More than 40,000 Americans die in auto accidents each year—and more of those fatalities happen between Memorial Day and Labor Day than during any other time of the year. The new book SO YOU’VE BEEN IN A ACCIDENT…NOW WHAT?: A Practical Guide to Personal Injury Law by attorney Daniel Cuppett gives ordinary people tools for dealing well with these risks. According to Cuppett: Every driver should be prepared in the event of an accident by carrying a first aid kit, a disposable camera and paper and pen. If you are not badly injured, make sure you take pictures of the vehicles and accident scene and get names and addresses of witnesses. Do not assume that the police will take down the names of all of the witnesses. If you have any pain or injuries at all, make sure you tell the investigating police officer and if you have any question at all about your injuries, ask for an ambulance.
